International Trade Finance Speech Essay International trade is essentially when two or more countries exchange goods and services. Many countries export their goods and services to other countries and in turn, they can also import goods and services from other countries to into their own. Advancements with technology have made it a lot easier for international trade to take place. Communication between countries is a good example. Communicating has vastly improved and helped to simplify the trading process. Some technologically advanced countries, like Japan and China have bountiful natural resources and that has a heavy impact on us. The United States is one of the largest contributors to international trade. Our GDP (Gross Domestic Product), is greatly impacted due to being huge import consumers. The United States relies heavily on products from other countries and we import much more than we export. Not only does this impact our GDP by lowering it as we import more than export, is also has an impact on our domestic markets because we are buying more from other countries. In regard to Foreign Exchange Rates, it is very important to know how they are determined. Considering economic growth within a country is important, governments can make certain that fiscal and monetary policies are in place to ensure that growth continues. Due to the goods and services that are traded between different countries around the world, there are foreign exchange rate payments that are required to be paid. You will see the foreign exchange rate differ from country to country. What happens when there is a surplus of imports brought into the U.S.? Cite a specific example of a product with an import surplus and the impact that it has on the U.S. Businesses and Consumers involved. First, it is important to try and keep imports and exports balanced. However, when one exceeds the other, it is called a surplus. Having a surplus of imports can create a lower price for the consumer, and have a positive effect on the employment rate of the country where the product was obtained. Seafood is a good example of a product with surplus. There are several states, mainly coastal states that have fishing boats out at sea for many months catching lobster, fish, crabs, etc. The seafood that is collected is used for both domestic sales and international export. This allows for several options when selecting fish, etc at the grocery store. It also increases your selection when out dining at a restaurant. A downfall could be that a surplus of seafood, fish, etc could result in a declining need for domestic fisherman to work and this could cause layoffs and cutbacks. What are the effects of International Trade to GDP, Domestic markets and University Students? GDP stands for Gross Domestic Product and international trade. GDP is the market value of all final goods and services produced in an economy in a one year period. (Colander, 2010) International trade is the exchange of goods and services between two or more countries. International trade greatly affects the GDP due to the fact that is we are able to have goods produced outside of the United States and the imported for sale at a cheaper cost than if we were to produce here, the consumer demands will increase and therefore help the GDP. Domestic markets are also affected by international trade as they have the ability to have products manufactured outside the United States at cheaper rates. This takes away from domestic manufactured product sales and could increase unemployment. On the reverse, it could affect domestic markets positively, as domestic retailers could mark up the products to consumers and keep the additional profit. International trade affects University students in a much different way. Suppose there was an increased demand for innovative ideas and qualified individuals to help keep our domestic markets alive? A University student could be a huge asset there. Also, the higher the GDP, more jobs will be available. If the GDP crashes, graduates should probably look for a job in another country. How do Government choices in regards to tariffs and quotas affect international relations and trade? Both International relations and trade are greatly affected by government decisions that are made about tariffs and quotas. Tariffs are the most familiar and most commonly used type of trade restriction. Tariffs are most often recognized as taxes here in the United States. Quotas are quantity limits that are placed on imports. These limits are decided by the government. The choices made by the government as it relates to additional fees for imports and limitations placed on the amount of imports directly affects international relations and trade. The positive side to this is that the government has the ability to control trade between themselves and other countries. This allows the United States to be picky. The ability to raise or lower tariff amounts gives us the power to possibly do business with underprivileged countries simply by lowering the tariffs as an incentive. They can also raise the tariff as a means to end relations with a country. What are foreign exchange rates? How are they determined? In regard to Foreign Exchange Rates, it is very important to know how they are determined. This is mainly because there is an enormous trade deficit between us and China. China currently holds a very large portion of our nation’s debt and it would be a bad business decision to try and end relations when we still have a large debt owed to them. Not only do we have a large debt owed to China, the U.S. consumer has a very large demand for products that are made in China. China is one of the largest manufacturers of electronics and other luxury items, like the Iphone, Ipad, Ipod that we have come to rely upon. Natures Gems :: essays papers

Natures Gems Desperately gripping the bend with screeching tires I accelerated down the slope toward a secluded lake, my lake. Edging the car over to the side, I wandered down to the water dampening my hand, revelling in the cool fluidity of it, feeling the burden of my conscience being lightened. I sat by its side, tossing stones into it’s willowy depths, watching the ripples slowly radiate from the epicentre. Stripping to the waste I waded out into the lake, the water was cold and refreshing it’s ice tendrils turning my skin a healthy red. I could still feel my hand throbbing from where I’d hit Mary, over and over until she had collapsed in a heap and I had fled the scene. Seeking peace of mind I had fled to the only place I could think of, this lake, this picture of tranquillity, I confessed my sins to it, felt reborn by it’s unspoken forgiveness and relaxed in it’s frosty grip. There would be loose ends to tie up now, for my future happiness I must n ot let this go unfinished. A low rumbling echoed down the hillside road, a sleek car followed by a cloud of dust traced around the bends of the cliff. God damnit he’s going to frighten any game off for miles around with that ruckus, Ruin my entire days hunting will he, well I’m not going home without something to show for it. Hefting my rifle I stalked off through the brush northwards. Pushing some branches aside I was greeted by a sight that wholly unimpressed me, once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen em all†¦ Some may consider this lake to be picturesque, a gem of nature. Not to me. This scene was totally uninspiring, the clam, slowly undulating waters were indifferent to me and me to them. The mountainous surrounds only made me feel more inadequate â€Å"in the great song† making my â€Å"verse† more insignificant. In my eye nature mocked humans and their pitiful achievements, this it the reason I loved to hunt, to kill, to extinguish this subtle mockery wherever I could. I heard a faint rustle to my left, ramming the butt of the rifle into my shoulder I pivoted and pulled the trigger†¦ Mary was down for only a few minutes, but when the stars cleared Harry was gone, the welts on her face were quickly swelling up closing her left eye.

Literary Criticism to: Little Red Riding Hood

All childhood stories have some origin and most have lost their way. Catherine Orenstein has discovered the original plot of Little Red Riding Hood. This original version teaches the reader lessons about life. Using the formalist approach I intend to show the reader how this old time fable can be informative to the reader and inspirational when making a decision that you only get one chance to make. The author starts out by capturing the reader’s attention he opens with, â€Å"Once upon a time there lived in a certain village a little country girl, the prettiest creature who was ever seen. Her mother was excessively fond of her; and her grandmother doted on her still more. This good woman had a little red riding hood made for her. It suited the girl so extremely well that everybody called her Little Red Riding Hood.†(Orenstein, 2004) during the initial paragraph the author allows the reader to make up a beautiful girl in their mind to focus the story around. The plot of this story was intriguing because you have a beautiful girl walking through the forest all alone on a mission to visit her sick grandmother. The surprise of the story was she was approached by a wolf. This wolf presented his self as a curious traveler who seemed to be friendly making conversation. This simple conversation that she carried out with the wolf would prove to be the most important lesson in the story. All parents always tell their children not to talk to strangers and never give personal information out. The wolf inquired several times information little red riding hood should not have afforded him for example, He asked her where she was going. The poor child, who did not know that it was dangerous to stay and talk to a wolf, said to him, â€Å"I am going to see my grandmother and carry her a cake and a little pot of butter from my mother.† â€Å"Does she live far off?† said the wolf. â€Å"Oh I say,† answered Little Red Riding Hood; â€Å"it is beyond that mill you see there, at the first house in the village.† (Orenstein, 2004) The author gives the wolf personification; he describes the wolf as a mysterious, dangerous character. He was presented as a clever hunter, who should be feared. He allows the wolf to actually mock being a human to hunt. This is shown in line 16 â€Å"The wolf cried out to her, softening his voice as much as he could, â€Å"Pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up.†Ã¢â‚¬  (Orenstein, 2004). He had gotten into the bed and was pretending to be her grandmother. Little Red Riding Hood was described as a beautiful, sweet, naà ¯ve young girl. The writer presents her as a gullible child with no teaching of stranger danger. This story is written in third person it gives the reader insight of all things going on. It’s going into details about the mother of the young girl, her sick grandmother, the environment with the wood choppers, and the deceitful hunting wolf. The most fascinating detail about this old time fable is knowing that this story referenced a young girl losing her virginity. The text states that the original story meaning was â€Å"According to the plot, she has just stripped out of her clothes, and a moment later the tale will end with her death in the beast's jaws—no salvation, no redemption. Any reader of the day would have immediately understood the message: In the French slang, when a girl lost her virginity it was said that elle [a] và » le loup—she'd seen the wolf.†(Clugston, 2010). There was some use of ambiguity; it could be perceived that little red riding hood lost her virginity to a pedophile. The wolf inquired about her destination, arrived there and staged waiting for her and then took her. In addition the grandmother was eaten to which can be perceived as her losing her virginity late. Not many people know the original origin of the old story Little Red Riding Hood. Knowing that there was a serious message behind this story allows your mind to think a little more in-depth about other popular folktales you grow up reading and loving as well. Catherine Orenstein made an old tale make a little more sense.

Language is the ever-changing form of communication used in human interaction. Language is a vital part of life as it is used everyday in teaching, learning, expressing one’s self and understanding. The use of language is dependent on social context and can be expressed verbally, in written form and through the use of sign and body language. Whilst language is always evolving and therefore the quality of its meanings is constantly being challenged and molded, it is important to realize that not everything in language is variable.
